About Me
Valerie Bustamante Johnson is a writer and photographer with more than eight years of journalism experience.
Bustamante Johnson earned her Bachelor of Arts in Communication Arts with a concentration in journalism from the University of the Incarnate Word (UIW) in San Antonio, Texas. Following graduation, she spent almost three years as a reporter at the Seguin Gazette, a daily newspaper in Guadalupe County.
At the Gazette, Valerie covered the city hall and education beats. She often reported on Seguin City Council, Navarro ISD and Texas Lutheran University.
Since 2019, Bustamante Johnson has worked in the communications field as a multimedia editor in the UTSA Office of Strategic Communications, a branch under University Relations.
As a multimedia editor, Valerie produces content for UTSA Today and Sombrilla that showcases UTSA's mission.
